June 2018 Miscellaneous

So June was fast a furious and completely full of fun!  The month passed so quickly, but I feel like we really packed nearly every day with some type of fun and made so many memories.  I finally made it through all of the official posts to highlight our activities for the month, but there were still so many pictures and moments that we wanted to make sure we remember.

These girls make me so happy!

The kids have had so much fun this summer with Drake and Brexley
Basement forts and beanbag jumping!

The kids are so lucky to have such great neighborhood friends
Brooke and Knox are some of their favorites.

The kids finished their last set of swim lessons for this summer.  I have been impressed at how much they have each learned, and love that neither is at all nervous in the water.

Most days we have been trying to have a rest or quiet time.

Luke lost his first tooth!!!!  Ever since his classmates started losing their teeth, Luke has been hoping to lose his first.  His top tooth had been a little wiggly for a few weeks with no real progress, then one morning he showed me that the bottom tooth was loose as well.  I figured we still had quite awhile before either would come out, but the bottom one actually fell out that afternoon at his friend's birthday party.  I think Luke was thrilled to have it happen at the party where all of his friends could see.  Luckily, the tooth wasn't lost and he brought it home in a baggie to get ready for the tooth fairy.  That night Luke quickly got into bed at bedtime with big dreams of the tooth fairy.  She came sometime during the night but was a trickster and hid Luke's money in the living room on the piano.  He didn't seem to mind though and was thrilled with the certificate she gave him commemorating his first lost tooth, and was even more excited about the $5 she left.

Tim and the kids worked hard to get our little garden planted.

One of Ruby's favorite activities

Red nose day at the Gym
Ruby even drew a picture of me with orange hair and a red nose.

Her spirit and personality are my very favorite.

Luke and I went to the eye doctor for a check up - it had been a year since Luke's last and two or three for me. Luke's prescription had changed a little so he needed new glasses.  But, the doctor was quite happy that his weak eye is correcting better.  Since we caught his imbalance early, hopefully his eyes will be able to even out without any long term problems or need for patching.

New glasses!

She doesn't need them, but Ruby desperately wants glasses.

Granda Whitesides and Aunt Donna went on a cruise to Norway.  She is so sweet to always remember the kids and brought them back trolls and a story about a troll family.  Luke is currently obsessed with The Hall of the Mountain King by Greig and he loved that she got to see the place where the song was written, and hear all about the possibility of real trolls.

Whenever she is at grandmas, Ruby loves to wear her sparkle dress

Ruby loves to come with me to get her nails done.  If they aren't too busy, I also let her get her nails painted.  The girls love to do her manicure because she holds so still and usually picks out a rainbow patter for her nail color.  This last time there was an older lady sitting next to her and Ruby was so sweet and talked to her and told her all types of stories.  As we went to leave Ruby gave her a hug and a kiss on the cheek and I think completely made her day.

One June 15th we celebrated our 9th wedding anniversary.  It landed on a Friday so we were both home for the day and enjoyed a relaxing day together.  Late afternoon we got a babysitter so we could go to dinner and then to the Diamond Rio concert in Santaquin.  The band has been a favorite since high school and we had so much fun together singing along and even doing a little bit of dancing.

Not all of the shots were glamorous!

Luke and I had the best date night together.  My mom wasn't able to use her tickets to see Shrek at the Scera shell so she offered them to us to use.  We met Tim and Ruby for dinner, then Luke and I headed over to the park.  Unfortunately, we tried to go on their night off so we found the park deserted.  Luke was so disappointed, so we made a quick adjustment to the plans and went to Nickel Cade and out for frozen yogurt.  Because they are so close in age, Luke and Ruby end up doing most activities together so it was really nice for me to be able to just focus on him and make sure that he was having a good time.  He is so sweet and tried to pick games that he thought that I would like.  He seemed shocked that I would want to play video games, but figured out pretty quickly that even though I may not be good, I still think it is fun.  Mostly I just loved being with him, doing what he loves.  After spending all of our money and tickets, we headed for frozen yogurt to end the date.

While Luke and I were having our date, Tim took Ruby out so they could have their own.  Not surprising, Ruby chose the DI where she found a stuffed animal and ice cream at Maceys.

On Saturday, when the play was actually showing, we decided to make it a family date and we all went together.  The play was so fun and the kids are still laughing about some of the silly characters.

Ethan and Rebecca have been some of Luke and Ruby's very best friends and we have loved watching them play together over the past year.  Unfortunately, they outgrew their house and moved to Mapleton.  We had them over for one last playdate and they got matching stuffed animals to help remember each other.  The kids will definitely miss having these friends so close.

Summer flowers make me so happy.
