Killer Ride

So you probably assume that I mean "killer" in a positive way,
As in amazing, fantastic, cool, etc.
The ride was all of those things,
But really I was using "killer" as in "this ride might kill me"
I started off at Brian Head resort and
Immediately started climbing a hill with an 18% grade.
Any time there is a warning to trucks, you know it is too steep.
I kind of felt like the guys in the Tour de France.
Except they would have passed me like I was standing still.
I had to stop and take some pictures along the way.
(Mostly to catch my breath)
And then I reached the summit.
Ten thousand feet??? No wonder I couldn't breathe.

From that point on the ride really was killer, as in amazing,
breathtaking, don't let me wreck because I'm looking at the flowers.
Man I love my bike.

Cedar Breaks

Have you been to Cedar Breaks?
If not, you should definitely go,
In the summer if possible,
65 degrees at 1:00 in the afternoon (104 in the valley)
Plus the views are amazing!

We hit it at the perfect time to see the wildflowers.
Blue, purple, red, yellow.
Beautiful.

I Hit a Chicken

I was going to title this post something bland like, "Weekend in Review", but so much better to start with a bang. And really, I did hit a chiken, on my bike. I was riding in Lake Shore, minding my own business. For some reason, this chicken on the side of the road got all flustered, started fretting, and ran right between my front and back tires. Don't for a minute think I was concerned about the chicken, all I could think about was how ticked I was going to be if this chicken made me wreck. I hit him, and feathers flew, but due to my superior skills, no skidding or crashing. Maybe it was the amazing bike. Anyway, I was just relieved not to have started my ride out like Lance Armstrong on the cobblestones. Two minutes later a bug flew in my mouth and straight down my throat. Serious choking. I know, I know, then keep my mouth shut. But if you have to do that, what is the point of riding with friends. The ride was beautiful, out around West Mountain, 60 miles done by 11:00 a.m.

Once I got home, we because the "Party of Five". I scored serious points on my quest to be best sister/sister in law ever and watched Jarin and Jami's babies Saturday and Sunday. That plus E and B made a serious houseful. The little ones had a riot, watching movies, playing games and jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler with popsicles. Ada told me it was the best day of the summer.

Gavin has turned into a serious tornado. I don't ever remember a kid being so busy and into everything. Sunday afternoon I went into the bathroom and found him mad because he couldn't get the toilet lid up. I just thought he was mad because he couldn't play in the water. When I lifted a few hours I just stood and laughed - obviously he was having fun. When Miles asked why his flip flops were wet I told hi because I had washed them - what, I did wash them once they were out.

Can you see the amazing banana cream pie? When it's your birthday, I will make your favorite desert as well. Luckily we didn't have to put all of Jami's candles on. Happy Birthday Jami, I can't imagine our family without you.

Have You Seen This Guy?

LOUIS LEON SANCHEZ
Since when are bikers so attractive?
Wow, he just made watching the tour a whole lot more interesting.
Never mind the fact that he had an amazing ride today.
He took second place in the stage after
storming up the steepest climb of the tour.
It has been a good week for Spain.

Quotable

We should be more like men, God bless'em. They can take their shirts off and show their man boobs and they don't give a hoot. But women are so critical of themselves. We can be gorgeous and hot and still be embarrassed to wear a tank top. So if you can't stop looking in the mirror, at least try not to think badly about yourself when you do.

Same Activity, Different Day

It's starting to look like I spend all of my time four wheeling.
Sean and Tad were in town.
They twisted my arm to go on another ride.
Other than the bugs, the ride was perfect.

Tiny Taylor Swift

Miss Ada's current goal in life is to grow up to be Taylor Swift (this is a switch, she used to want to be Rapunzel). We went to see Toy Story in 3D and I think the glasses were Ada's favorite part. She said they made her look like Taylor Swift (if you haven't seent he video to You Belong With Me, check it for reference) and wore them the rest of the night.

Miles just wanted in on the action.
