Hike Club

At the beginning of the summer as we were coming up with our "bucket list", one of the top items was to make sure we did some hiking.  We have not taken the kids a lot, but last year we did a few small hikes and we thought that this year they were probably old enough to do a little more.  We started off strong in St. George and have done a few little hikes so far.  I had read about hiking the Timpanogas Trail to Timpanogas Falls and it sounded perfect for our family - the description said it was about 1.5 miles, and fairly easy for kids.   After a few small scheduling issues, and last minute trip to Costco for another hydration pack, we finally made it to the trailhead.

From the first few steps the hike was beautiful - I realize daily how lucky we are to live in a place with such incredible views.  The kids were so excited and stopped constantly to examine ants, bugs, sticks, flowers and butterflies.  As we hiked they were even willing to sing songs with me so the experience was practically perfect and made me feel truly happy.

As the hike went on, the kids quickly became tired and started to slow.  The trail was a lot steeper than I had expected and they each wanted to be holding either mine or Tim's hand for most of the hike.  They complained a little, but mostly I was just impressed at how well they were able to climb.

Eventually we made it to the waterfall and we quickly forgot how hard the hike had been because it was so beautiful, and the water was so refreshing.  We stayed for a bit, had some snacks, got stung by stinging nettle (just me), took some pictures, and then turned and headed back down the trail.  By the time we made it back, we had hiked three miles.  I was so proud of my little family and the way the kids kept on moving up the hill - this really was one of our best adventures.

While Brycen was here, Tim decided to take the kids up Provo Canyon to do a little exploring.  Once they got above Sundance, Brycen decided that he wanted to hike, so he set off to Stewart Falls while Tim and the kids hiked and played around near the trailhead.

Brycen had a great hike and made it to the falls.

Meanwhile, Tim, Luke and Ruby had plenty of time to entertain themselves.

They loved playing in the ampitheater
And Ruby even saw a real princess

There is always time to be silly
