July Miscellaneous - 2020

Summertime has been good to us.  Late nights, lots of friends, and plenty of water.

Luke and Drake went to conditioning camp at Mt. View High

Some days the boys had to escape the heat and find something to do inside.

But most of the time, they preferred to be outside.

So much of the month was spent trying to stay cool...
The Rec Center, 7 Peaks, splash pads, etc.

Ruby celebrated her friend Brexley's birthday at the splash pad.

Tim and Taylor went on a Jeepin adventure

It's a weird world when your kids are excited for new masks.

There were lots of long days which turned into sleepy nights.

Tim and the kids finally made it to Vivian Park for some fishing.

The kids have had the best time riding bikes and scooters, and learning new tricks.

Pioneer Day was far from normal this year.  We missed all of our traditions - the parade, the park, and fireworks.  We replaced it with a day at the waterpark and some wild neighborhood fireworks.

And the very best part of July...
Might have been all of the produce from my garden.

Roughing It Easy

When we were kids, my mom had a book called "Roughing it Easy" with tips and hacks to make camping a better experience.  There were a lot of awesome ideas in that book - including the recipes for chili dogs in a thermos (hint, you need dental floss to fish the hot dogs out of the thermos) and bacon and eggs in a paper bag.  As much as my mom loved her book, I have the best solution to roughing it easy - find yourself a tentr sight, then relax and get ready to enjoy the great outdoors.  I stumbled onto this service by chance and now I'm completely sold.  When I told Tim that I wanted to go camping, he was clearly shocked, but having an established camp site eliminated all of the things that I don't like about it.  We packed up some food and clothes and headed out the door and up the canyon to Wasatch Mountain State Park.  When we arrived at our site the kids were so excited and had the best time checking out our tent and turning it into their own little place.

With less work to do, we had plenty of time to explore.

Relax

And go for scooter rides.

We took advantage of being close to Heber City and went to our favorite drive in, Dairy Keen, for burgers and shakes.  No dishes to worry about there.

Once we returned, Tim and the kids got busy splitting wood and building a fire so that we could make s'mores.  Honestly, s'mores are my favorite part of camping.

After a long day, Ruby was ready to model her pajamas,

And clean up the camp and fire.

Eating breakfast on our porch was was one of my favorite parts of the trip.

The kids had the best time playing with their homemade guns.

Luke and Ruby worked hard on the Jr. Ranger booklet and completed most of the activities.  They even gathered a bag full of trash.

At the visitor's center they passed off their booklets and were sworn in as junior rangers
