I Hit a Chicken

I was going to title this post something bland like, "Weekend in Review", but so much better to start with a bang. And really, I did hit a chiken, on my bike. I was riding in Lake Shore, minding my own business. For some reason, this chicken on the side of the road got all flustered, started fretting, and ran right between my front and back tires. Don't for a minute think I was concerned about the chicken, all I could think about was how ticked I was going to be if this chicken made me wreck. I hit him, and feathers flew, but due to my superior skills, no skidding or crashing. Maybe it was the amazing bike. Anyway, I was just relieved not to have started my ride out like Lance Armstrong on the cobblestones. Two minutes later a bug flew in my mouth and straight down my throat. Serious choking. I know, I know, then keep my mouth shut. But if you have to do that, what is the point of riding with friends. The ride was beautiful, out around West Mountain, 60 miles done by 11:00 a.m.

Once I got home, we because the "Party of Five". I scored serious points on my quest to be best sister/sister in law ever and watched Jarin and Jami's babies Saturday and Sunday. That plus E and B made a serious houseful. The little ones had a riot, watching movies, playing games and jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler with popsicles. Ada told me it was the best day of the summer.

Gavin has turned into a serious tornado. I don't ever remember a kid being so busy and into everything. Sunday afternoon I went into the bathroom and found him mad because he couldn't get the toilet lid up. I just thought he was mad because he couldn't play in the water. When I lifted a few hours I just stood and laughed - obviously he was having fun. When Miles asked why his flip flops were wet I told hi because I had washed them - what, I did wash them once they were out.

Can you see the amazing banana cream pie? When it's your birthday, I will make your favorite desert as well. Luckily we didn't have to put all of Jami's candles on. Happy Birthday Jami, I can't imagine our family without you.

Hmmm, I'm not sure I would laugh at the toilet thing but I guess it's good you have a sense of humour!
