Last Day of School

After a fantastic year, Luke's time in Kindergarten came to an end much too quickly.  We could not believe how quickly the school year went and how much Luke learned and progressed.  The Friday before the final week of school, I went with Luke to do his final Kindergarten testing.  I loved being a fly on the wall and watching and listening as his teacher went through all of the problems and questions.  It was cool to see his little mind working while he tried to figure out a problem.  He has learned so much more than I really ever expected.  He has become a confident reader and loves to write and illustrate his own stories.  I think he has a good mind for numbers and has really picked up on numbers, math, and the relationship with numbers.  It is exciting to think about how far he will go over the rest of his school career and we are so grateful that he had such a strong start.

Field Day was the last official day for Luke, what a great way to end the year.  I was lucky and able to go with Luke and be a helper for his class - mostly that meant I went with his group to all of the different stations and spent the morning just watching my boy have fun.  This school year has been absolutely fantastic and ending with field day ended up being the perfect finale.

We took one last look around the classroom before packing up Luke's stuff to leave.  He was so proud to be a part or the 100 Club (kids that can count to 100) that we decided we better get a picture.

One last hug from Mrs. Arney and we headed off into summer vacation.  Mrs. Arney was the perfect teacher for Luke - we absolutely loved her.  Anytime I went into his class I was amazed at how she interacted with the kids.  They listened to her so carefully even though she was very soft spoken.  Luke thought she was incredible and they had the sweetest relationship.  When it came time to say a final goodbye, Luke just gave a hug and was on his way.  He is already taking about First Grade and can't wait to be a part of the big kid school.

And now....ready for summer!
