Visits to Santa are at the top of our list of magical Christmas activities. Our first trip to see the big man this year was more of a photo op and the Santa looked a little familiar, but it was one of my favorites. I loved watching the kids, and puppy interact with Santa Tim. I was really hoping for great photos so I could use them for our Christmas cards so I was excited with how they turned out. The fact that the puppy puked all over me as we were walking out of the session, well that just added to the memories.
The kids started working on their letters to Santa at the beginning of December - then spent the rest of the month adding new ideas. We didn't make it to see Santa until right before Christmas so by the time we dropped off the letters, they were perfect.

After dropping off their letters, we finally got to visit with Santa Clause. With all of the weirdness of the year, we weren't sure if, or how the kids would have the chance to talk to Santa Clause. The Riverwoods had it set up so that everyone was about 10 feet apart. It wasn't perfect - Luke especially was a little unsure about "yelling" what he wanted to Santa, but at least we got to see him, and Ruby didn't seem to mind the circumstances. Mostly, I was just so happy to see such a familiar face!
Riverwoods is one of our favorite places to visit at Christmas time. This year they added a lot of photo spots which of course, we made sure to use. After visiting Santa, we took pictures, ate burgers at Seven Brothers, and just hung out listening to Christmas music and enjoying the atmosphere.
Ruby was so excited to ride the carousel.
Even better, we were the only ones riding.
This seemed like the perfect place to share some of my favorite memories. Turns out, Luke and Ruby have always been on the nice list.
