So I feel like every post lately starts of with some version of how weird or different this year was - I guess I keep saying it because it was!!! In the past, Christmas parties have sometimes seemed like a lot of work, but man it has seemed lonely without them. We were able to have some small celebrations and were so grateful to spend time and be with our people.
A few days before Christmas, Grandpa and Grandma Whitesides came down for soup, gingerbread houses and a few presents. We are so lucky to have grandparents live so close. Luke and Ruby absolutely love them and were so excited to have grandpa and grandma all to themselves.
The girls seemed to be the most serious about the gingerbread houses.
But the boys' house really turned out awesome.
The kids were thrilled to open presents early.
Brycen got a new job at Snow Basin and had to work almost the entire Christmas break, including Christmas Eve and day. We weren't sure when we would be able to celebrate with him so he came down on the 23rd to start the celebrations early.
Christmas Eve steak and shrimp is one of our oldest traditions - and definitely one of the best. Some years we go out, but this year cooking at home was definitely the only option. The meal was amazing and the company was even better. Cheers!
This was the first year that we didn't have any of the big kids with us on Christmas Day - it was really strange and we definitely missed them. It is tough to coordinate all of their schedules, but finally on the 29th we had everyone here which meant round two of presents and parties.
