Happy Easter 2019

Lately it seems like all of our celebrations are pretty drawn out and involve multiple events - and to be honest, I kind of love it.  Luke and Ruby get so excited over the smallest things which makes it fun to turn everything into a big deal.  Our Easter celebrations started a few days early at a hunt that was sponsored by Tim's Real Estate Association.  They called it a hunt, but is was really more of an Easter egg sprint.  The kids spent a lot of time scoping out their options, but when the big moment came, they sort of froze and didn't gather as many eggs as they had expected.  Luke gathered enough to make him happy, but Ruby only got a few and was pretty upset about it.  We tried to console her for a bit, but eventually just told her she could go get her free sofa and to just be happy to be out running around in the sunshine.  I'm not sure she was convinced, but she did stop her whining.

This was pre-hunt

After the hunt we spent another hour or two at the park, the kids played and Tim and I just hung out and relaxed in the sunshine.  We really had the best afternoon together.

Ruby had an Easter egg hunt at preschool

Saturday afternoon, after a busy weekend, we finally had time for the kids to color their Easter eggs.  Watching them reminded me so much of being a kid - same process, and the same delight in seeing how the eggs look after writing on them with crayon.  There were plenty of special eggs created and by the time they were finished, Luke and Ruby were super excited for the next morning.

Sunday morning the kids woke up and immediately checked to see if the eggs were gone from the refrigerator.  As soon as they were sure, they started begging to go outside to hunt.  Some eggs they found immediately, but others took a bit of teamwork and a few hints from mom and dad.  As much as they liked the candy eggs, they were way more excited when they found one of their own design.

Always a note for the special surprise

They were pretty excited with the little gifts the Easter Bunny left

After finding the Easter baskets, we all quickly got changed and ready for church were we were able to focus on the true meaning of Easter.  Luke and Ruby are so fascinated by the idea of resurrection and always have super detailed questions about how it works.  Mostly they just want to know when Everest will be resurrected so we can have a dog again.  I love helping them learn about Jesus and am grateful we were able to spend a part of our day honoring his sacrifice.

Easter outfits are my very favorite

Not my favorite, but at least we got one all together.

Of course, hunting eggs at grandpas and grandmas is always their favorite!

Lately Luke has been super interested in welding and how it works.  He was excited when he found out that my grandpa was a welder, and that my dad also knows how to weld.  My dad took the kids into my grandpa's welding shed and showed them some of the tools.  Then we talked about the fact that my grandpa welded the swing set that they love to play on.  It was fun to see them so interested and I am sure my grandpa was just so pleased to see his great grandchildren in his welding shed.

No one could resist posing with the wheelchair
After such a busy day, I think they all needed the rest
