Park City July 2018

Spending time in Park City has become one of our very favorite family traditions.  We just really love everything about our time away in the mountains.  In fact Luke just asked me tonight when we could go back to Park City.  I pointed out that we were just there two weeks ago and he didn't seem to think that was any reason we shouldn't be going back soon.  We love to stay at the Marriott Mountainside and this year we were spoiled and got to stay there for almost a week.  By the time we came home, I was finally relaxed, Tim was the happiest dad ever, and the kids were begging to move in.   Now that's a vacation!  In fact Ruby told me that when she is a mama, she's going to live in Park City.Staying at the same place each visit really makes it feel like a homecoming and the first thing the kids did when we arrived was run to see Sunny, the canary.  After checking on the bird, they ran around checking out the new additions in the game room and finding new activities in the kids area.  They have set up a few games of cornhole and that became one of Luke's new favorites.  We love that there is so much to do at the resort, and that we can easily walk or drive to shops, restaurants, or the grocery store.  That first night we went out for burgers for dinner and then crashed.

The kids quickly made themselves at home.

Saturday morning I headed out for a run and ended up going 9.5 miles.  Tim and the kids ran a quick  errand and then we met up at the old farm with the coolest flag ever.  I had stopped to take pictures on my way past the first time and then we had a great time exploring together on my way back.

Luke was super interested in the old farm equipment and wanted to know what each piece was for.  After listening to me tell him about each piece, he said "so the tractor is the most important of all".

The peonies were incredible!

Of course our very favorite part of the hotel is the swim area - the large pool and seven hot tubs.  The kids would put on their suits first thing in the morning and we usually swam at least twice a day.

Ruby and I spent a lot of time working on her swim lessons

Nothing better than snuggling my babies by the pool.

Sunday afternoon we drove down to Salt Lake and met Grandma Whitesides.  She was kind enough to take the kids for a sleepover so Tim and I could have a little time to ourselves.  It was heaven!  We didn't do anything fancy, played games on the patio and wandered around the ski resort.  But, it was just enough time to connect and recharge.

Meanwhile the kids had a great time with grandma

This year we spent a lot of time in the activity center playing games, coloring, finger paints, etc.  One morning they were painting ceramics and I couldn't resist.  Luke painted a shark and Ruby painted a turtle and they could not be cuter.  They both worked so hard on their creations.

We really spent most of our time at the hotel, but did venture out one evening to wander around Main Street.  We took a few pictures, had some dinner, and then were happy to head back to the hotel.

Grandpa and Grandma Broadbent came up to have dinner and spend the evening with us on Tuesday.  There was no way that Grandpa could resist the chance to pan for precious rocks and crystals.

We absolutely love the Alpine Slide and waited until late one afternoon when there were no lines to go.  It's starting to seem like every part of the strip was our favorite, but the slide definitely tops the list.  Each year that we go it gets to be more and more fun because the kids are more engaged.  This year Ruby was a maniac driver and I kept having to brake so she wouldn't flip us off the track.  Tim and Luke left after we did but Luke worked hard to catch up and by the end, we finished about even.

Most nights ended with fires and smores which is the definition of summer perfection.
