Disneyland Day 3

For our last day we decided to start at California Adventures and then bounce back and forth between the two parks.  It was nice to start the day super relaxed and we spent the morning at the Disney Junior Dance Party, hanging out with Crush at the turtle adventures, and just wandering through the park meeting friends.

Any day that starts with cotton candy is a great one!

We hadn't had time to make it to Bugs Land yet so that seemed like the best place to go next.  I think in another year or two this area may feel too young for the kids, so I wanted to take advantage.  I love that they are still willing to make believe that we somehow ended up in the middle of a bug's playground.  The rides were fun but most involve spinning so Tim just watched and cheered.

We love Cars Land and the kids were so excited to finally make it to the Radiator Springs Racers ride.  It had been so busy the other days so we decided to wait and make it a priority for our fast passes on our last day.  Ruby was a little nervous as the ride started, then gripped my arm tightly the entire time we were racing.  She made it through without any tears, but told us quite firmly that she didn't want to ride again - way too scary.  It's funny because a lot of the rides that she went on last year are way too scary for her this year.  I think she was young enough last time that she didn't realize that that was anything to be worried about - hopefully next time we will be able to get her back on these rides.  After Racers, we had time to hit all our favorite Cars rides for a second time.  It was fun because most of these rides had been changed to Christmas songs and decorations in the past two days so it felt like a totally different experience.  I'm not sure if the kids noticed...but I loved it.

From the moment we arrived at the park, Ruby had been so excited about our plans to have lunch with Ariel and her friends at Ariel's Grotto.  She packed her mermaid dress and was sure that she was dressed just like Ariel's sister Alauna.  We started off by meeting Ariel and being welcomed to her party, then a prince arrived and announced  the other princess friends that had also come to the party.  Both kids had fun, but Ruby especially loved the entire event.  She was in heaven each time a princess stopped at our table to visit and take pictures.  The lunch was ordered off a menu and we spent about an hour and a half for the experience.  It was actually a great way to have a good meal and get a rest in the middle of the day and the atmosphere made it so exciting and fun for the kids.

After finishing lunch, we talked about what we had left to do and see and decided to split up so both Luke and Ruby could have a last chance to ride their favorites.  Luke and Tim headed straight back to the Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Carribean  - I think they even snuck in one last ride on Splash Mountain and Thunder Mountain Railroad.  Meanwhile, Ruby and I had the best time in Fantasy Land.  She really wanted to ride Dumbo again and we had plenty of time for Dumbo, Casey's train, the teacups and Alice in Wonderland.  That was our first time to ride Alice and we both loved it.

We tried going in the castle, but it was too creepy for Ruby.

Just a casual stroll with Belle and the Beast

Luke discovered that he loves Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

We met back up for some treats (Jack Skellington of course) to give us the energy for one last ride at Radiator Springs.  By then California Adventure felt mostly deserted and it was like we had the place to ourselves to enjoy.  It was a fantastic way to end our days at the park and we all left very tired, but very, very happy.   We really had the best time and loved being able to spend time in both parks.  I think the kids are already planning the adventure for our next trip to Disneyland....I know I am.
