We have had the best time exploring so many new places this year. After hearing that there was a hike to an arch in Maple Canyon, we made plans to go on Labor Day. I hadn't even known that Maple Canyon existed, and for sure didn't know about this awesome arch. Apparently most of the canyon is conglomerate rock which is made of rocks that range from pebbles up to boulders. The rock structures look totally different than anything I have ever seen. It was so fascinating to look at all the variations and wonder how the formations came to be. These are the times that I wish I would have paid better attention in my sciences classes - who knew that one day I would find rocks so interesting.
Jarin, Jami and Co. joined us which made the hike super fun. Ruby was so excited to have Lola with us. There were a few complaints and grumblings from the kids, but overall, they did great.
The arch was really spectacular!
Ruby took a nasty fall on the way down the trail. Jami had a bandaid, but what she really wanted was some lovins from her mama.
The boys discovered some inspirational rocks.
