Orme Family Reunion June 2019

We were able to spend a weekend with my parents, and a ton of extended family, and the Orme family reunion.  My grandma Floris (my dad's mom) was an Orme.  I have met and know most of my dad's aunts, uncles and cousins.  This particular reunion took it back one step further, and was for all of the posterity of my grandma's grandpa, Thomas Orme.  For the adults, this meant a lot of new faces and plenty of  time chatting and making connections with family members, new and old.  For the kids, it was just a great excuse to go camping and run wild with cousins. For all of us it ended up being a lot of fun and we loved the relaxing weekend together.

The kids loved all of the crafts and activities

The hula hoops were one of the favorite activities.  All of the kids, and a lot of the adults picked them up to have a go.  Of the kids, Gavin was was definitely the best, but grandpa gave him a pretty good run for his money on the hula hooping competition.

Every dog is their favorite!

Grandpa and Grandma brought their trailer...

We stayed in these cutest little cabins - glamping at its finest.

The pool was freezing, but somehow everyone stayed in long enough to get burned

On our way home, we all decided to stop at Cove Fort and take a tour.  My parents were the only ones who had ever been and it turns out, the entire area is pretty awesome.  I loved learning the history of the fort, and the kids loved seeing how it looked in the "olden days"

It was fun to see the various rooms that had been restored, but the walkway on top of the fort walls was definitely the place to be.

After climbing up, then sitting in the wagon for just a few minutes, the kids couldn't imagine ever having to ride in one.  They definitely looked and acted like city kids.

The guide taught them several games that the pioneer kids played - they chased metal hoops, and tried to figure out how to work a humdinger.  The entire tour was so fun, I think we will probably stop in again the next time we are in the area.
