On August 9, 2018 we were able to spend the weekend celebrating Tim's 48th birthday. On Thursday morning, the little kids and I woke Tim up with breakfast and a treasure hunt to find his presents. Luke and Ruby had worked hard the night before to finish their cards and find the best hiding places and it was fun to watch them try to guide him with hints of "warmer" and "colder". Once the presents were found they were more than happy to help with the opening. We all love Tim so much so the day he was born is definitely something worth celebrating.
Tim and the kids spent the day hanging out and playing and then we met his parents for dinner and birthday cake. The day's celebrations weren't too elaborate, but I had wanted to make sure Tim felt loved and appreciated and he said that it had been a really great day so mission accomplished.
When Tim and I talked about different activities we could do to celebrate his birthday, it was clear that what mattered most to him was just having the entire family together. With so many different schedules, it can be tough to get everyone together at once, but we made it happen on Friday and it turned out to be one of the best birthday celebrations ever. The big kids met us to drive up to Tibble Fork Reservoir where we played in the sand and water, ate, danced, and laughed. It was the perfect activity for our wide range of ages and really, everyone had a great time.
On Saturday we were invited to the Sundance Summer Theater to see Oklahoma. We used Tim's birthday as an excuse for some extra time together and took the kids to Santaquin for a sleepover. The play was not our favorite, but it was still just so nice to be together
On Sunday we finally had the last of the celebrations - Sunday dinner in Santaquin with Tim's choice of food and dessert. He chose my grandma's pork chops which I'm sure made her smile in heaven, and a strawberry shortcake trifle. All of the kids get so excited to help with the candles and of course, Tim was more than happy for the assistance. We sure are lucky to have him!
These last two shots are mostly just for fun, but I love how each one shows the kids as a total miniature version of their dad. Luke was just so proud to sit there enjoying the sunshine with Tim, and Ruby's copy cat moment was completely unrehearsed and unknown by her. I woke up that morning and just sat and laughed at the fact that they looked exactly the same while sleeping.
